VIC

Welcome to the Vancouver Island Challenge (VIC) page.  The Vancouver Island Challenge is a series among ABA tracks on Vancouver Island.  The intent is to encourage competition between riders from each track and provide a fun series for everyone, especially those who do not travel off the Island for the larger Provincial and National series events.  For 2008 the format will be different from years past with the goal of increasing participation in this fun series.  Please check out the schedule and format and keep checking back once the races begin for the standings, which will be posted within 2 weeks of each race.

The Vancouver Island Series will be fun for all riders, but will allow an opportunity for riders of all ages and abilities to compete for the title of Vancouver Island Champion.

If you have any questions please email Gerald Trees at gtrees@shaw.ca.

Vancouver Island Challenge (VIC) Format

Format:

1.    Each ABA track on Vancouver Island will hold a Vancouver Island Challenge qualifier race.

2.    Each Vancouver Island Challenge qualifier race and the finals will be a single district points race.

3.    A Vancouver Island Challenge Champion will be awarded for each ABA amateur age class. These classes can be found at the bottom of the page.

4.    Points will be awarded based on the Provincial Championship points system.  As it is with the Provincial Championships, rider points will not be included.

5.    Any ABA rider can race a Vancouver Island Challenge qualifier race, however only Vancouver Island (BC01 district) riders will be eligible to become a Vancouver Island Champion.

6.    In the past a rider had to race 3 Vancouver Island Challenge qualifier race plus the finals to be eligible for Vancouver Island Champion status.  For 2008 a rider must race at least one Vancouver Island Challenge qualifier race plus the finals to be eligible for Vancouver Island Champion status.  If a rider races more then 3 Vancouver Island Challenge qualifier races, only their top 3 scores plus the finals will be used for scoring.

7.    Rider points and placing will be posted at each track and on a website developed for the Vancouver Island Challenge no more then 2 weeks after a qualifying race has taken place.

8.    Each Vancouver Island Champion will receive an award unique to the title immediately following the Vancouver Island Challenge Finals and any rider racing the Vancouver Island Challenge Finals will receive awards for the day weather they are eligible for Vancouver Island Challenge Champion or not.
