Year End Party
Happy New Year!
Wow! It's hard to believe that 2009 is in the history books and we are already a few days into 2010.
While the 2010 BMX racing season at Erik Goetzinger BMX is still a few months away, the time will go quickly. 2009 was a great year for racing at Erik Goetzinger BMX and 2010 will be even better. Our AGM and Season Planning Meeting will take place in February and a date and location will be set in the next few days. Even if you don't wish to sit on the executive of the club please come out to the meeting as this is when we start getting ready for racing at the end of April any help you can give is needed and greatly appreciated.
Best wishes for 2010 and we look forward to seeing everyone at the track!

I have a few items to go over before the weekend hits.
First, a correction to a couple of announcements that were made at last Tuesday's race. Coal Hills BMX may not be holding a race this Saturday, September 12th as many of their volunteers are traveling to Kelowna for the Provincial Finals. Also, Nanaimo BMX is not racing on Sunday. Their local racing takes place on Wednesday evenings. I apologize for any confusion.
Second, best of luck to all Erik Goetzinger BMX members who will be racing in the Provincial Finals this weekend in Kelowna.
Finally, today is the 8th anniversary of 9/11. While the attack did not occur on Canadian soil, if forever changed the world in which we live.
Have a great weekend and remember that next Tuesday is the final race of the 2009 season.
Gerald Trees,
Erik Goetzinger BMX

Rain in the morning, Sun in the afternoon
For those who are waking up to rain this morning, according to the latest info from The Weather Network this afternoon and evening should be dry in Qualicum Beach so pack up the kids and the bikes and come out for racing tonight. Remember it's Trophy Night!
August 24, 2009
It's hard to believe that we are nearing the end of August and summer. For some reason this season has flown by. Anyway, this Tuesday is the last Tuesday in August and that means that it's Trophy Night! If you know someone who hasn't been out racing in a while let them know.
Also, put Tuesday, September 15, on your calendar as this will be our last race for 2009 and will make up for our rain-out race earlier this year. We are also working on a date in October for our year-end party so keep checking the website out.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

It's Monday, the sun is shining and it looks like the weather will be great for racing tomorrow evening. There's nothing like BMX in the summer!
This past weekend was a busy one for members of Erik Goetzinger BMX. On Saturday the finals of the Vancouver Island Challenge Series took place at Nanaimo BMX and 5 of our members came away with 7 Vancouver Island Challenge titles.
Tianna Fretz, Vancouver Island Champion - 6 year-old girls.
Taylor Fretz, Vancouver Island Champion - 9 year-old boys.
Aiden Grecht, Vancouver Island Champion - 6 year-old boys.
Alex Grecht, Vancovuer Island Champion - 7 year-old boys and 7 boys cruiser.
Alison Grecht, Vancouver Island Champion - 9 year-old girls and 9 girls cruiser.
Congratulations on your accomplishments!
On Sunday, Erik Goetzinger BMX and Nanaimo BMX participated in Kids Fest in Parksville. A big THANK YOU to Randy, Brandon and Amanda Little from Nanaimo BMX who drove up the ABA Canada van and helped out at the event. Steven Creighton also of Nanaimo BMX came up to help as well. From Erik Goetzinger BMX, Sara and Brad Paddock talked with people and handed out information and Richard and Jamie Fretz provided the generator so that BMX videos could be played at the booth. Thank you to those from Erik Goetzinger and Nanaimo BMX who stopped by the booth and helped out.
The Kids Fest booth wouldn't have happened without Robert and Trisha Grecht who put all this together. Thank You!
Check out the photos from Kids Fest on the Photos page.
Finally, one of the long standing Erik Goetzinger members had a great weekend off the BMX track. 16 year-old Sheldon Trees, who started racing at Erik Goetzinger BMX at the age of 7, was up in Comox trying out for the Comox Valley Glacier Kings of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League. He had a great weekend and will be starting the season with the Glacier Kings.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the track on Tuesday.

We had a great evening of racing this past Tuesday evening and thank you to those who took a chance that the rain would stop and came to race. The rain did stop and the track was in great condition and allowed for some great races to take place.
Anyway, there are some BMX activities happening this weekend that should be fun so if you need a weekend BMX fix this is the information you need.
On Saturday, August 15th Nanaimo BMX will be hosting the finals of the Vancouver Island Challenge Series. Anyone with an ABA license can participate in this race even if they've not raced any or all of the Vancouver Island Challenge Series races. Sign-up is from 2:30 to 3:00 PM. There will be fun activities and a pot luck dinner following racing. If you need more information check out the Nanaimo BMX website. Just follow the link on the side column.
On Sunday, August 16th Erik Goetzinger BMX will be part of Kids Fest in Parksville. The event runs from 10 AM to 4 PM and we will be located next to the skate park. If you can come down and support our club it would be wonderful. At the very least bring the family down to enjoy the Kids Fest activities.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you at the track next Tuesday.

It's hard to believe that we are half way through summer and that our first race of August is tonight. I know the heat has been too much to do much of anything, let alone race, but it does feel cooler today.
Thank you again for everyone that has stepped up to help out at the track, especially last week when Gerald and Mike were away. Your help is always appreciated.
A few weeks ago we had a young racer, Ben Tisdelle, move into the intermediate class following his 8th win as a novice. Congratulations Ben!
Finally, there are a few new photos from this season that have just been added to the Photos section of the site. Enjoy.
July 21, 2009
We had another great evening of racing at Erik Goetzinger BMX. Before racing we had a lot of help from parents grooming and watering the track, which made for fast racing. We have also had a number of parents volunteer to help out at the sign-up desk and at the finish line. Thank you everyone for all your help. This is what allows such great racing to take place at Erik Goetzinger BMX.
Congratulations to Ben Tisdelle, who earned his 8th win as a Novice last week and moved into the 6 Intermediate class.
We saw some great racing tonight, even though we had 10 motos. Many of our riders are participating in the BMX Supercamp Canadian Summer Camp in Nanaimo and will be back at the track next week.
Just a reminder that next week is Trophy Night and dog tags will be given out to every racer. This race is also round #4 of the Vancouver Island Challenge Series, which is held at every track on the Island. It's open to all racers and will be ran just like a regular Tuesday evening race.
We look forward to seeing everyone next week and Good Luck to all the racers who will be participating in the ABA National this weekend in Cumberland.
Summer BMX is Heating Up
A great evening of racing went down at Erik Goetzinger BMX yesterday. We had 14 motos and a group of 4 half track racers providing those watching with some exciting races. As has been the case all year, our 5 and under novice group was the largest with 13 racers showing up.
Thank you everyone for supporting Erik Goetzinger by coming out to race and for all the parents who have been stepping up to help at the track before, during and after the race. All the support and help is greatly appreciated and without it racing simply wouldn't be possible.
The rest of July will offer as much BMX as a rider could ever want with the following events.
Monday, July 20 through Wednesday, July 22 Pro 1 BMX Supercamp will be holding their Canadian Summer Camp at Nanaimo BMX. Thanks to some great local sponsorship the cost of the camp is $275.00 US for the complete camp, which includes over night accommodations and food. For those who just want to attend the riding clinics the cost will be $175.00 US. For more information contact Randy Little at 250-619-7186 or you can sign up at the track on Monday morning at 9:00 am. Supercamp has been coming to the Island for many years and they offer exceptional training for racers of all ages and abilities.
On Thursday, July 23rd Nick Goertzen will be holding a 1 day clinic at Coal Hills BMX in Cumberland. The clinic goes from 9:00 am to 2 pm and the cost is $50.00 Canadian. A pizza lunch is included.
